THE EVENT
Our event took place on April 1st from 6-8 p.m. in Massey Hall on the campus of the University of Tennessee. We wanted to do a school supply drive because The Boys and Girls Club works to do many supply drives for families who need it (Chen). We had great success with going door-to-door. After the drive, we counted up the supplies and it came out to be 200+ school supply items. Below is a picture showing group members Brooke and Andrew in the shopping carts along with the school supplies we received.
On April 2nd, our group dropped off the supplies at the Haslam location of the Boys & Girls Club and the workers there were so thankful for the donations. Group member Stephon was unable to attend the drop-off so one of the workers stood in his place for the photo! It was a great time getting to see the kids reactions to the new supplies they were getting and the reactions made all of the work up until that moment worth it.
We were able to collect 215 items for The Boys and Girls Club of the Tennessee Valley.
The graph below shows all the different items we were able to collect and how much of each we collected.
Some of our more notable items we collected were 2 backpacks, 38 Notebooks, 34 Folders, and 24 Binders. As you can tell by the graph, if anybody had something to give, they gave it from Spanish dictionaries and Professional Art Pencils. We want to thank the Massey Residence for the jubilant donations!
